The Matanuska-Susitna Borough was incorporated as a second class borough in 1964 with a manager form of government, governed by an elected mayor and Assembly. Borough services are provided on an areawide and non-areawide basis. Areawide services are those services that are provided both within and outside the incorporated cities of the Borough. Non-areawide services may only be provided outside of the incorporated cities.

The Borough participates in the yearly Human Services Community Matching Grant program, a state of Alaska pass through grant intended to provide funding to local 501(C)(3) non profits for the provision of critically needed essential health and social services.  We also participate in other state and federal pass through grant programs from time to time.

This application portal will make submitting applications to any of our programs, an easier process for our applcants, while streamlining the review process, thereby incresing the effeciency and reducing costs.
